More than six million Ukrainians have left the country since the invasion began. Some have stayed, others have moved on to new lands, and still others have returned, for reasons that are far from straightforward. Guilt, a sense of belonging, a desire to be where life goes on despite everything: returning is less a matter of geography than a process that plays out anew every day, even from a distance.
